The Alimony Reform Act of 2011 was signed into law by Gov. Deval Patrick in September. It is the hope that this legislation will enact fair and equitable distribution of alimony, including time limits on parties’ obligations to make alimony payments. Judges will now be permitted to consider the facts of each case when deciding upon the alimony orders.
